Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for 1966 heritage building Rietveldacademie 2023
For architect Gerrit Rietveld (1888-1964) the Amsterdam art academy building was one of the lasted works in his career. He passed away two years before the building was accomplished, and the commissioner, Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs (IvKNO), decided to have this academy to bear his name.
In 2002 it received the status of Gemeentelijk Monument (municipal monument).
In 2020 the academy received a grant from the programme 'Keeping It Modern' by the Getty Foundation to write a CMP to safeguard the architectural heritage for the future decennia without compromising its function as an academy for contemporary art and design education.
Project core team: Wessel de Jonge, Jeroen Semeijn for WDJA Architecten, Erik Slothouber, Carla Boomkens for Rietveldacademie, Joost Salemink for ABT engineers. For the complete list of authors see webpage academy.
